With proper safety measures in place, your NetTeller transactions remain confidential and safe. The following measures have been taken to ensure your privacy: Unique ID and Personal Identification Number (PIN) - In order to access Excel Bank's NetTeller, you must enter a unique User ID and PIN.
Account "Pseudo" Names - Excel Bank allows you to choose a "pseudo name" for each of your accounts. For example, Checking, Payroll, Money Market, etc.
Automatic Log-Off - If you are logged on to NetTeller but do not use it for 10 minutes, you will not be able to proceed until you "re-log" onto the system.
PIN "lockout" System - To keep unauthorized individuals from accessing your account by guessing your ID or PIN, we have instituted a lockout system. If your ID or PIN is entered incorrectly three consecutive times, the user is "locked out" of the system. You must contact the bank for your account to be reset and the system to become "unlocked". Encryption - The latest encryption technology ensures that another party cannot access your confidential account information. Encryption is a way to rewrite something in a code, which can be decoded later with the right "key". When you request information about your accounts, the information is sent across the web in an encrypted format to Excel Bank. Our systems decode your request and send the requested information back to you in an encrypted format. When the information reaches you, it is decoded so that you, and no one else, can read it.
Remember…Email is unsecured
Do Not send any confidential information such as account numbers, social security numbers or PINs to Excel Bank through Email. Excel Bank has no control over items sent to us in this manner. Other Security Measures - In addition to the above safeguards, sophisticated firewalls and an authentication process ensure that only authorized individuals are allowed to enter our system. These electronic buffers stand between the Internet and the servers that manage the NetTeller Online Banking.
How you can protect your Internet security?
While NetTeller works to protect your banking privacy, you will also play an important role in protecting your accounts. There are a number of steps you can take to ensure that your NetTeller account information is protected, including:
- Use 128-bit SSL encryption in any operating system you use
- Update and use your virus-scanning software on your computer to protect against viruses
- Keep your PIN to yourself
- Change your PIN frequently (the system requires a change every 90 days)
- Remain at your computer until your NetTeller transactions are completed and log out. Log out of NetTeller prior to visiting other Internet sites
- If you notice suspicious or unusual activity on your NetTeller accounts, call (800) 658-3691 or notify your local police department
- Do not change your "pseudo name" for your NetTeller accounts to the numeric account numbers
